The Universal Studios Hollywood Fire:A Piece of History Lost
Wednesday, July 21st, 2010The reason the fire broke out.The press conference the day after the fire.News reports about how the fire started,who started it,what was burned,what parts of the backlot were effected,and more.The fire was contained to one section of the backlot.Less than 1% of Universal’s 391 acres was affected.Sadly,New York Street and the King Kong attraction were lost,but the iconic courthouse on Courthouse Square and half of the buildings facing the square were saved.Because of where the fire was situated on the backlot,it was unavoidable to guests experiencing the Studio Tour and now Universal Studios has once again let the trams goes through the area that was once burned but only one section of the backlot is closed to the trams because of the final buildings being constructed.Currently everything is being rebuilt and by the end of the Summer all the building will be completed.King Kong 360 in 3D is now open.

Smethport’s Potato Creek Kayak Adventure

John Wesley, Jovanna Porter & photographer Ross Porter launched their kayaks at Galco Crossing (Galico) and headed north on the Potato Creek. This photo documentary is a record of their journey on the pristine Potato Creek as they head north toward the Allegheny River. All of our adventurers are members of the new Potato Creek Trail Association, a trail organization that is promoting the development of non-motorized hiking trails, water trails for canoes & kayaks, mountain bike trails, and equestrian trails in and around Smethport, (McKean County), Pennsylvania Wilds.
