Save the Kube Gallery in Poole

This was to protest at the immediate closing of the Kube Gallery which is an “Iconic National Treasure”. One of the finest Art spaces in the South of England, which is based at the Bournemouth and Poole College, who originally gifted the land on which to build the Gallery. This custom designed and award winning Gallery has been used for quality Art Exhibitions, Teaching of Adults and Children, Performance Art including Music concerts, display of local Graduates Final Degree work, Art and Craft fairs for the local Art Community and many more. The initial building was funded by a £1.8 million Lottery Grant advised by the Arts Council. The Funding issues involved now, are complex, but included in the blame must be the Scandal surrounding the Learning and Skills Council debacle, where they promised funding to 144 Colleges throughout the country, who then went ahead to develop their properties, only for the LSC to withdraw funding at the last minute as they had “miscalculated” and over committed themselves by a staggering £5.4 Billion. The head of the LSC stood down admitting “irregularities”. An independednt review by Sir Andrew Foster concluded that the whole situation was predictable, basically there was no excuse.
