Monday, July 19th, 2010

www.arte-amazonia.com Join us on with this photoshow to experience some of the cultures of the Amazon of Venezuela. Experience the rainforest from a unique perspective not taught to you in schools or books. We have selected handicraft made by indigenous tribes and also ceremonial pieces that are rarely seen even in museums. As the Amazon continues to be threatened so do the many cultures and traditions that live there. In the Video you will see the arts of the Yanomami, Ye’kuana, Piaroa and Waroa. We have much to learn from them and there way of life. The baskets they weave hold many secrets. What plants do they use? How do they find the plants? How are the plants treated and conditioned for use? Who teaches the techniques? Who does the weaving? What do the symbols mean? Why are they a certain color? Join us as we ask these questions and take a serious look at some of the worlds oldest treasures.
