Major demonstrations are taking place in central Bangkok. Water Buffalo Racing, Chonburi, Thailand.
If your in Thailand between 1 – 16 October 2008, make sure you take time to witness the Water Buffalo Racing at Chonburi. To accompany the business side of buffalo buying and selling at the Annual market in Chonburi, there will be Buffalo Fancy Dress, a Miss Farmland competition, bareback buffalo racing and a buffalo procession.
About 300 buffalo race in groups of six, spurred on by jockeys waving wooden clubs. The water buffalo still plays an important role in agriculture in Thailand, and farmers from Chonburi, 30 miles from Bangkok, consider this to be an essential annual festival, it is also celebrated by rice farmers before they begin their rice harvest.
The name Chonburi means city of water. And if your looking for the right bus to catch Chonburi is represented by ชลบุรี

EXPIRED: Win a holiday to Ibiza with the orange balloon race
Look at the balloon bobbing about at the bottom of the page its part of the great orange balloon race. It helps Orange promote their mobile phone services and also allows you post your website or blog address as a destination in the race for competitors to visit, and if that isn’t enough of a win-win they make it win-win-win by giving you a chance to win a holiday. I am in no way associated with this Orange campaign, but thought it was a pretty neat way to increase visits to this site in a fun way.
On a more travel related theme there was a balloon festival in Pattaya, Thailand at the end of 2007, if anyone attended and has photographs please post me a link as I missed it.
Tourists and members of the public are invited to Pattaya International Balloon Fiesta. The exhibition will be held in Pattaya, Chonburi between December 8th and 12th. The Pattaya International Balloon Fiesta is a premier event to introduce and promote a sport of ballooning to Thai people, while celebrating the auspicious occasion of the 80th Birthday Anniversary of His Majesty King Bhumibol Adulyadej on December 5th this year. There will also be many exciting and entertaining shows like Sport Kite, Paragliding & Hangliding, Fairground and many more.

last-minute bargain hunters will often be disappointed says ebookers .com
A survey of 25,000 Brits*, conducted by ebookers.com the online travel agent, reveals that many holiday makers haven’t yet booked their summer trips and are holding out for bargain prices…
64% of those surveyed claimed to be planning summer holidays but hadn’t yet made their reservations. 31% had already booked while 4% weren’t taking trips this summer.
The top five hoped for destinations amongst those who haven’t yet booked are LA, New York, Florida, Barcelona and Dubai.
Claire Howard Jones, ebookers.com Head of Marketing, said:
“People are continuing to book late this year but experience shows that last minute bargain hunters will often be disappointed. Smart travellers know the best prices in the travel industry are mostly available to early bookers.
“Bargains can sometimes be found a few days before travel for traditional tour operator packages. With flights and tailor made holidays though, early booking is almost always best.”
This price sensitivity and bargain shopping, perhaps brought on by tightening economic conditions, was further demonstrated by half the sample survey who claim to be influenced in their choice of destination by the strong euro and comparatively weak dollar.
Seaside versus City
The survey results also show that while city breaks might be increasing in popularity, there’s no doubt that Britons still love to be beside the seaside. 62% of those going on holiday are heading off on Sun and Sand trips, their top five destinations being, in order, Florida, California, Spain, Greece and Thailand.
38% are planning urban-centred trips with the top five city break destinations being New York, Los Angeles, Paris, Las Vegas and Barcelona.
