  16. Peru has been one of my favourite countries that I´ve visited so far. Having a motorcycle realy enabled me to get to places that would require serious dedication from a backpacker and I was amazed at how friendly Peruvians are. I have so many fantastic memories from all over the country. I feature a toilet in every Brainrotting episode so it´s nothing against Peru just a bit of light hearted entertainment, no offence meant.

  18. I was raised in Peru and really enjoyed seing the beautiful things Peru has to offer but I see no need of showing the toilets. There are beautiful hotels in Peru with comfortable accomodations. There is no need to show the ugly parts.

  20. Thomas, thanks for the kind words… oh and I just received your email with advice on Bolivia. I´ll be reading through that and will probably visit Cochobamba to visit those markets.

  22. Hey don´t worry, the roads scare me too. especially when people say things like “oh, you plan to travel on THAT road?”

  23. thomasrichardsonf on Sat, 14th Nov 2009 3:46 pm
  24. (I was raised in Bolivia so I know my way around.) unfortunately Im not living there at the moment.

  26. AWESOME, AWESOME, AWESOME.
You are basically documenting and editing some of the best motorcycle travel videos Ive seen so far (great job). My brother and I are planning on leaving our brain rotting here in Florida in a few months and will be taking a similar trip.
Ive got some places for you to visit when you get to Bolivia, So Ill try to keep checking in.. and will write as soon as you get near.

  28. Another fantastic episode. So love watching these. South America is one part of the world I’ve not yet been to and you’re giving me a lovely taster! Not sure about those mountain roads though – I’m a proper scaredy pants! x

  30. Hey, glad you’re inspired. Despite the fact that this video shows me repairing the bike and also breaking down the GS is a great bike and I’m really happy with it. Especially considering that the roads in Peru have been attempting to systematically destroy the bike!

  32. I have a Garmin Zumo GPS and behind that I mounted an extra large horn…. a necessity and ther only place I could find to mount it. The large rod and other mount are for my point of view camera which I use to get the back facing shots of my talking to camera whilst riding.

  34. Most awesome adventuring Graham! I must say that I am inspired to do more bike trekking now! I travel the wild mountain trails of the Pacific Northwest U.S. for now on a big Honda, but am looking for a bike better suited for distance, maybe even a GS!!

  36. Graham, just noticed a closeup of the handlebars
when you were up in the Andes – what are all those gizmos attached to the bars!??

  38. I’d also add that I know a fella on a Suzuki who has been doing a similar trip to me and he needed a new piston recently… stick with the Beema and make sure you have a good contact at a dealership from your home country so you can get parts couriered to you if necessary.

  39. easyg1409 on Sat, 14th Nov 2009 3:46 pm
  40. No, you’ve chosen a good bike. After 16 months on the road these are the first problems I’ve had and they are normal for a bike with this amount of mileage. The problem is that you can’t predict when something will fail but its all part of the adventure

  41. easyg1409 on Sat, 14th Nov 2009 3:46 pm
  42. Mechanically the bike is very good. It’s normal for the water pump to need replacing after so many miles; the radiator fan motor took me by surprise but again its nothing unusual. The problem is getting parts from BMW when you need them.

  43. AWalk393 on Sat, 14th Nov 2009 3:46 pm
  44. I’m happy to see your latest episode…some of the hillside roads looks pretty scary and just reminds me how baldly i hate heights.
How would you assess the general mechanical performance of the motorbike; it seems to have a fair amount of mechanical failures. Is this typical for 35K + miles?

  45. gib8956 on Sat, 14th Nov 2009 3:46 pm
  46. Brilliant as ever! Good to see you back on line – although wondering whether my choice of the Dakar was the right one!!
