Cheesy sense of humour definitely not a pre-requisite, but can help :)

Totally agree that a 20 hour weekend course is not sufficient for teaching in certain countries, which is why i-to-i run courses up to 120 hours – people have the choice as to what level of preparation they want depending on how long they have to get TEFL certified and where they want to teach.

CHEESY….. Is a cheesy sense of humour a prerequisite for this course?

Teaching in China is less monitored than other countries,so a weekend course is fine for China but not other countries. How can anybody be a GOOD, EXPERIENCED teacher of the largest language in the world, by just learning how to do so in one weekend?

    Beats me…

I’m not sure this is the case – I did i-to-i’s weekend TEFL course and had no problem getting a job at a decent school in China – I think it’s just a question of how much time and money you have to spend on getting trained up.

I’m sorry, but the vast majority of self respecting schools will not even consider those with a weekend cert in TEFL. A month long intensive is a better option if you’re serious about it.

Yes is the answer but there are some exceptions. Just check out there website. Some countries request that you have a degree with your TEFL/TESOL. I dont think spain does. You wont have much of a choice on where your based though.

Can you tell me: Is it possible to do TEFL/TESOL course with very little qualifications? I have 7-or-so GCSE’s, only 1 x A-Level and a B-TEC. Needless to say, I don’t have a degree. I would like to teach English in Barcelona primarily. Thanks.

good video, The trainer is very motivated and energetic, because he shows you how to teach so he is like coacc,BUT try teaching around 6 hours a day and be as positive and motivated as he is.I can bet that after a few months you will bored with it and soon lose your drive.

the important thing about a teaching course is teaching practice on reading, writing, listening and grammar. I to I also offers a real TEFL course from TEFL international. I have no doubt they have good stuff in this course for a teacher but if you want to be a real teacher just do the month course. I am a DOS in Beijing and we dont recognize this weekend cert. CELTA, TEFL international and Delta are the best. They produce the best teachers.

It’s held in a variety of locations. Go to the i-to-i website.

I did the Cambridge RSA CELTA course in London in 1996 and moved to Madrid soon afterwards. A very good decision and an excellent experience.

I didn’t do the weekend course but I did do the 40-hour online course and the 20-hour grammar awareness module. This organization can provide basic, entry-level TEFL certification but if you want more, do an onsite course of at least 120 hours and six hours of actual teaching practicum (the i-to-i TEFL weekend provides only simulated teaching practice).
